Elemis debuts anti-blue light skincare onboard new cruise ship Celebrity Beyond

Elemis launched its new skincare product, Pro-collagen Morning Matrix, onboard Celebrity Cruises’ new ship Celebrity Beyond, in association with sea spa specialists OneSpaWorld.

Following a UK launch in London the day before, the international event was held on Celebrity Beyond during the media “shakedown” cruise, one day ahead of her maiden voyage in Western Europe, departing Southampton.

Elemis has partnered with Celebrity Cruises and One Spa World on each of the cruise line’s Edge-class ships: Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex and now Celebrity Beyond.

Having completed clinical trials, the product will be rolled out on Celebrity Beyond first and then across the rest of the fleet.

Oriele Frank, co-founder and chief product and sustainability officer at Elemis, said: “In the modern world, everyone is on their phone experiencing blue light as well as high-stress levels, both of which impact skin. These two factors are what motivated the development of this product.”

The silicone-free anti-ageing daytime moisturiser has been formulated to protect against the effects of blue light, visible signs of skin ageing, fine lines, wrinkles and to improve skin firmness and elasticity.

“The hours we spend on our laptop or phone add up – it’s seven-days-a-week, 16-17 hours a day,” added Krystina Dwyer, head of treatment development at Elemis.

“We’re using Padina Pavonica Ferment – this ensures we’re delivering maximum moisture to the skin and supporting collagen, that elastic feeling of firmness and relaxed appearance to the skin.”

Dwyer explained that additional ingredients include turmeric curcuma longa, which protects collagen and elastin from stress-induced degradation.

Japanese artemisia capillaris is also used to counter the impact of blue light on the skin.

Wellness onboard Celebrity Beyond
Celebrity Beyond’s spa offers a menu complete with more than 120 treatments, including acupuncture (the line’s most popular spa service), cupping and Gharieni’s MLX iDome concept.

It also offers a sea thermal suite, with the elements of sea, earth and air inspiring the design, which was led by Kelly Hoppen.

There are eight spaces to experience overall, including a hammam, crystalarium, salt room, infrared sauna room and a rainfall water therapy room.

Guests can access the spa area by booking an AquaClass stateroom, or by reserving one of the top three suites. Guests not in either of these categories can purchase a day pass which are capped at 40 daily.

At 1,073ft, Celebrity Beyond is the largest ship in the Edge-class fleet with capacity for 3,260 guests in 1,646 staterooms.

As well as access to the sea thermal suite and spa, AquaClass’s immersion into wellness also includes pillow menus, a cashmere mattress, preferential rates on spa packages, in-room fitness amenities and a complimentary pass to the vast Technogym fitness centre.
